Staff at Trilogy Active’s leisure centres, active play venues and community programmes across the Midlands can now access ethical financial services through a new partnership with Commsave Credit Union, aimed at improving long-term financial wellbeing.
The not-for-profit leisure operator has partnered with the credit union to provide employees with access to ethical savings products, affordable loans and free financial education tools. Importantly, the initiative forms part of a wider focus on staff wellbeing, as many households continue to face cost-of-living pressures.
The partnership follows a strong period of growth for both organisations. Trilogy Active reported a record-breaking year in 2024–25, with rising participation levels, increased membership and continued expansion across its leisure and community facilities. Meanwhile, Commsave Credit Union surpassed 40,000 members for the first time, reflecting growing demand for ethical, member-owned financial services.
Stuart Thomas, Head of People and Development at Trilogy Active, said supporting employees beyond the workplace was a key priority. “We are delighted to be partnering with Commsave to support the financial wellbeing of our colleagues, providing them with access to safe and ethical savings and loans, as well as tips and tools to develop their confidence in managing their finances,” he said. “By combining Commsave’s trusted financial services with our leisure and wellbeing offering, we’ve created a more comprehensive support package for our employees.”
As part of the partnership, Trilogy Active staff can save directly from their salary, helping them build consistent saving habits. They can also access ethical and affordable loans, a free Bereavement Fund and entry into the Commsave Lottery. In addition, employees receive free access to financial education through the Commsave Educates app, which includes money management tools and practical advice.
Matt Goulding, CEO of Commsave, said the partnership recognises the contribution Trilogy Active staff make to local communities. “Their teams work incredibly hard to keep people healthy and active, and they deserve financial services that work just as hard for them,” he said. “We’re not just offering another employee benefit; we’re providing a genuine alternative to high-street banking that puts members’ interests first.”
He added that services such as payroll deduction savings, access to loans without traditional credit score barriers and long-term support through the Bereavement Fund were designed to offer stability. “We’re here for the long term, just as Trilogy Active is for the communities it serves,” he said.
Trilogy Active operates leisure centres, swimming facilities, children’s active play venues, an independent cinema and community outreach programmes across the Midlands. The organisation also delivers an award-winning junior activity programme and supports the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food scheme, helping families access activities during school holidays.
Commsave Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative that reinvests directly into its members and communities. Since 2021, it has distributed more than £120,000 through its Community Fund, supporting charities, schools and grassroots organisations nationwide.
