Yusen Logistics has completed the acquisition of Walden Health, a move that strengthens its European healthcare logistics network and reinforces the group’s growing presence in the UK logistics sector, including Northamptonshire.
The acquisition, completed by Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V., brings Movianto, Eurotranspharma, Transpharma International and Walden Digital into the Yusen Logistics Healthcare network as wholly owned subsidiaries . Together, they form a dedicated healthcare logistics platform delivering end-to-end supply chain services across Europe.
For Northamptonshire, the deal is particularly relevant. The county remains one of the UK’s most important logistics hubs, with strong links to pharmaceutical distribution, temperature-controlled transport and time-critical healthcare supply chains. As Yusen Logistics expands its healthcare operations across Europe, the company’s UK logistics footprint — which supports major healthcare flows into and out of the Midlands — is expected to play an increasingly strategic role.
The expanded healthcare platform brings together international freight forwarding, specialist warehousing, regulated transportation, last-mile delivery and digital control tower services. This integrated approach supports pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies that rely on compliant, resilient supply chains — sectors that are already well represented across Northamptonshire’s logistics parks.
Hiroki Harada, CEO of Yusen Logistics Global Management Co Ltd, said the acquisition marked a major step forward for the group. He said welcoming Walden Health colleagues into the business strengthened Yusen Logistics’ position in healthcare logistics and enhanced its ability to deliver high-quality solutions across Europe and beyond. As a result, customers can expect improved reliability, innovation and end-to-end visibility throughout the supply chain.
Harada added that combining Walden Health’s specialist healthcare expertise with Yusen Logistics’ global network would support the company’s long-term growth strategy, with healthcare logistics expected to be a key pillar of its next mid-term plan from April 2026.
Minoru Futonaka, managing director of Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V., said completing the acquisition was a pivotal moment for the European business. He said the integration strengthened Yusen Logistics’ ability to deliver tailored healthcare logistics solutions while expanding its footprint across key European markets. Furthermore, he highlighted the contribution of teams across the UK and Europe in completing the deal.
Bruno Jacques, deputy managing director of Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V. and CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare (Europe), said the creation of a dedicated healthcare platform marked the start of a new chapter. He said the shared focus would remain on protecting product quality and ensuring essential medicines and healthcare products reach patients safely and on time.
As demand for specialist healthcare logistics continues to grow, the acquisition positions Yusen Logistics to support complex supply chains linked to the UK’s logistics heartlands, including Northamptonshire, where healthcare distribution, transport and warehousing continue to be key drivers of regional economic activity.
