A Wellingborough IT company has merged with a Stafford-based provider to create Dragon Technology Group, as the business prepares to expand its managed IT, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity services.

Dragon Information Systems, which recently invested in a new head office at Strixton, has combined with Simplex IT Solutions. The deal brings together two businesses with more than 40 years of combined experience in the IT services sector.

Both companies will now operate as part of Dragon Technology Group, serving established customer bases across central and south-eastern England.

The merger represents the first stage of a broader strategy to extend the group’s regional footprint and support further merger and acquisition activity. It also marks the latest step in the expansion of Dragon Information Systems from its Northamptonshire base.

All staff have been retained across the two businesses.

Lionel Naidoo, founder and managing director of Dragon Information Systems, has become chief executive of Dragon Technology Group. Andrew Glyn-Mills takes up the role of chief revenue officer, while Craig Joyner becomes chief technology officer.

Lionel said: “Simplex is a natural fit for us, being a like-minded business with the same commitment to service, reliability and long-term partnerships.

“By bringing our teams together, we can offer customers a broader range of services, extended support hours and the reassurance of a larger, ISO-accredited provider behind them. This acquisition strengthens our foundations and sets us up for further growth as Dragon Technology Group.”

The deal follows Dragon Information Systems’ move to its new Strixton headquarters, near Wellingborough, as the company builds the infrastructure needed to support its longer-term expansion plans.

Lionel added: “Looking ahead, we will be continuing to grow the business in a way that maintains the essence of the company and the strong culture we have created.

“We’re so grateful to our customers for continuing to put their trust in us, as we enter the next stage in our development.”
