THE first private medical school in the United Kingdom is just one of the building projects currently being undertaken by SAC Construction.

The complex, which is attracting national interest, is part of an ongoing partnership with The University of Buckingham, which has seen the Corby-based company complete a series of refurbishment projects worth between £250k and £2.1 million.

Like the university project, the recent completion of a housing development on behalf of Metropolitan Housing Trust, is testament to the construction company’s commitment to high standards.

The £1.8 million project in Corby called on the team to design and build 14 two and three-bedroom bungalows and four three-bedroom houses. The homes, to be taken by tenants for an affordable rent, were built to a level 3 for the Code of Sustainable Homes, which means each exceeds building regulation standards in energy efficiency and safety.

Andy Culbert, Director of the company, based on Corby’s Willowbrook Industrial Estate, is proud of the way SAC Construction has been able to make the most of opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including education, commercial and industrial.

SAC Construction provides an all-round service, from new builds to repairs, and more than 80 per cent of sales are currently from repeat customers with referrals helping to increase demand even further.

To cope with the company’s expansion the team has recruited professionals including site managers, estimators and quantity surveyors. A dedicated business development manager Geoff Sear will now enable the company to meet its target to expand by 50 per cent a year for the coming two or three years.

Andy said: “We have built a reputation within our sector for reliability and flexibility, whatever the size of the project and feel confident we can continue to expand while retaining our high standards.”

The company’s versatility is reflected in a wealth of projects in schools across Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire Buckingham and Northamptonshire. These include a new fitness suite at Brooke Weston Academy in Corby to provide gym facilities for students and the public and the conversion of a former grain store into offices and light industrial units completed on behalf of Bulwick Estates.
