Three good reasons to visit

THIS year Earls Barton will hold its third annual Literary Festival on the 8 and 9 June. June may seem a long way off, but there are three very good reasons to put the date in your calendar right now. First is the opportunity to meet one of the original Calendar Girls. Tricia Stewart, who was Miss October. She will be talking and answering questions about the WI, calendar fundraising and the subsequent film, in which she was played by Helen Mirren.

Secondly, Steve Pateman, the owner of the famed Kinky Boots factory, will be sharing his experiences of the factory’s fortunes and his involvement in the creation of the award-winning film and musical. For fans of books, stage and screen the opportunity to meet these two celebrities will be unmissable, and tickets will sell fast.

And thirdly, fans of BBC Radio Northampton will have the chance to meet the entertaining presenters Bernie Keith and Andrew Radd who will formally open the festival, before they engage in conversation as the first featured speakers.

All three of these events will take place on Saturday, 8 June, but there are many more interesting speakers, workshops, theatrical performances taking place throughout the weekend.

So whether you want to put a date with a Calendar Girl in your calendar, find out how fetish boots changed the fortunes of a factory, or chat with two of the biggest personalities in Northampton radio, take a look at the website www.eblitfest.com where you can book tickets and find out more.
