SPRATTON Hall School have been shortlisted again for the third time running for the International David Shepherd Global Canvas and Poetry competition.

The brief this year was Our Precious Planet focusing on the amazing wildlife in the world.

Last October pupils from Reception right up to Year 5 explored the question of how to depict our precious planet. The pupils came up with the idea of giant jewellery boxes in the shape of animals. This idea was used in order to mimic the fact that we store our precious items in jewellery boxes.

Each drawer within each animal was then filled either with small ceramic creatures that the pupils made in their art classes or poems that they had written on the theme. Our Year 8s researched animal habitats to find out why and how we need to keep these animals precious.

Spratton Hall took the exhibition down to the Natural History Museum towards the end of March to compete against the other finalists.

To see the jewellery boxes, visit Spratton Hall’s Open Morning on Friday, 12 May between 10am and noon.
