Spice up the festive season

PREPARE for tantalising smells of spice wafting from the dishes created in the kitchens at Aroma of India.

It is six months since the doors opened at the restaurant in Northampton’s Kingsley Park Terrace under the leadership of Arvind Kumar.

After extensive experience in the restaurant industry, including time in his beloved India, Arvind took the decision to open the venue, which is already building an enviable reputation.

The restaurant, which can seat up to 80 people, is proud of the team headed up by chef Babulal Sheikh from Kolkata in India, who has more than 25 years’ experience cooking in the finest hotels in India, Dubai and London.

At the restaurant’s heart are great authentic, home-style Indian dishes prepared by an experienced team who know the right time to add an extra touch of spice. Now the restaurant is taking bookings for the festive season with groups of ten or more guests able to take advantage of the fixed rate menu for pre-Depawali, the festival of lights, and pre-Christmas.

The £15.95 per head for lunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday includes a selection of dishes, starting with poppadums and chutney followed by four main courses – two vegetarian, two non-vegetarian, rice, naan, paratha, salad with raita, and dessert.

The lavish dinner menu option for £20.95 per head includes poppadums with chutneys, two non-vegetarian and two vegetarian starters, two non-vegetarian and two vegetarian main courses, rice, naan and paratha plus dessert, which is optional.

The restaurant’s menu has a wealth of dishes to suit any tastes from favourites like Jalfrezi, Korma or Murgh to chef’s specials. The regular menu includes tender Kashmiri tandoor lamb chops to Ajwani fish tikki, which is a marinated tilapia fish cooked in a tandoori oven.

There should be no complaints from vegetarians with an extensive choice of starters and main courses for those who prefer a meat-free option. Alternatives to the usual onion bhaji or vegetable samosa include tandoori mushroom or vegetable Manchurian, which is a dish of dumplings sauteed in a chilli and garlic sauce.

Aroma’s drink options include their own versions of the indulgent lassi or Indian masala tea.

Arvind said: “We are very proud to welcome people to our restaurant and hope we can be part of their festive celebrations.”

Bookings are now being taken for the festive menu. Call 01604 791555 or see the website at www.aromaofindia.co.uk
