THE addition of a featured book shop is just one of the new chapters in the story of Earls Barton Literary Festival, which is being organised as part of the Village Festival in June.
Following the success of last year’s event, a host of writers and performers are being lined up for this year – including a return for some of last year’s most popular guests.
Mark Carey will headline the Saturday evening with a repeat performance of his one-man show, Into The Breach, which went down so well last year, while James Hornsby will be performing Oliver Twist, a follow-up to two previous appearances in Earls Barton when audiences enjoyed A Christmas Carol and, at the literary festival in 2017, Great Expectations.
While there are a number of sponsors already on board, including Business Times, Howes Percival, Jeyes of Earls Barton, Home Instead East Northants and Home Instead Northampton, the organisers are keen to get more businesses involved to support the event, including if possible, a featured bookshop.
One of the organisers, Carolyn Palôt-Watts, said: “If any book shop wanted to have a presence at the festival it would give us greater scope to sell copies to visitors who’ve been to a talk or seen a show and want to buy work by the writer.
“It’s something that is very difficult to organise ourselves, so having a bookseller on hand during the festival would be beneficial to everyone.”
A new format is Crime In The Conservatory which will take place in the conservatory at Jeyes of Earls Barton, crime writers including Louise Jensen, Darren O’ Sullivan, Jane Isaac and Greta Mulrooney will discuss the art of writing crime and pshycological thrillers.
The weekend of the festival is Saturday and Sunday 8 and 9 June.
Events will be held in venues in the centre of the village, including two of the churches and the library. Visitors can choose to attend a single event or buy a ticket for a day or the whole weekend.
A programme will be available soon with full details of all events and how to book, updated information will appear on the website www.eblitfest.com For details about how to become a sponsor and bookseller enquiries, call 07584 093039.
