HEWITSONS has once again achieved impressive results in this year’s Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners guides, as the law firm continues to shine in key practice areas.
The annual publications rank UK law firms and solicitors based on the results of extensive research, including client feedback interviews.
The 2019 Legal 500 directory names Hewitsons as a top-tier firm in 10 practice areas. These are Private Client (Agriculture & Estates; Charities & Not for Profit; Contentious Trusts & Probate; and Personal Tax, Trusts & Probate), Real Estate (Environment; Planning; Property Litigation; and Commercial Property), Dispute Resolution (Commercial Litigation) and Corporate and Commercial (Corporate and Commercial).
The law firm, which has offices in Northampton, Cambridge, London and Milton Keynes, also performed well in many other practice areas.
Furthermore, the guide recognised several Hewitsons solicitors as Leading Individuals within their respective specialisms, many having retained this elite status for several years. Earlier this year, three of the firm’s partners were also inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, including Dominic Hopkins and Clare Colacicchi from the Northampton office.
Meanwhile, in the 2019 UK Chambers & Partners guide, Hewitsons climbed the ranks in one of its key practice areas and retained strong positions in another 11.
In the region defined by the guide as Northampton and surrounds, the firm achieved a Band 1 ranking for its Agriculture and Estates work. In the East Midlands, it also received this top rating for Corporate/M&A (SME/Owner-Managed Business).
The guide also ranked an impressive 18 Hewitsons solicitors for their work across various specialisms, including four who achieved top Band 1 ratings.
The results follow a period of particularly strong growth at the firm. Over the past 12 months, Hewitsons has achieved record revenues and profits, as well as many impressive legal successes, several prestigious contract wins and further accolades.
For example, in May, Hewitsons was confirmed as a national legal panel member for Homes England, and in September the firm once again retained its place on the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) Legal Panel.
Meanwhile, Law Exchange International (LEI), a global network of independent law firms that Hewitsons founded in 1994, continues to go from strength to strength.
All this has enabled Hewitsons to continue investing heavily into everything from IT systems and infrastructure to people.
Most recently, Emma Shipp, former Managing Partner of London firm Martineau, joined as a Partner and Head of Business Services. Several others have also joined teams that can help clients to capitalise on plans for the Oxbridge Growth Corridor region.
Managing Partner Colin Jones said: “The past 12 months have been particularly exciting for Hewitsons, as we have continued to ramp up investment on the back of strong growth. This puts us in a stronger position than ever before to continue delivering the very best results for our clients, all with the Absolute Client Focus we pride ourselves on.
“We are pleased that this commitment has once again been recognised with excellent rankings in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners guides.”
