FRIDAY Legal Solicitors this month completed the latest acquisition on behalf of clients Northampton Leisure Trust (who trade under the style of Trilogy Leisure).

Northampton Leisure Trust currently operates most of the major leisure centres within Northampton and Daventry and has added the Cripps Recreation Centre on the site of Northampton General Hospital to its portfolio of leisure centres.

The Cripps Leisure Centre was originally constructed as the sports and social club catering for the health authority employees in the region, having been built on the site of Northampton General Hospital in 1974. Cripps Leisure Centre now boasts an indoor swimming pool and fully equipped gym with free weight area, together with a variety of classes and function rooms. Under the management of Northampton Leisure Trust the centre has already been extensively refurbished and memberships are available to members of the public as well as NHS staff. Further information in relation to the Cripps Recreation Centre can be found at www.trilogyleisure.co.uk/cripps.

This new partnership between Northampton Leisure Trust and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust supports Northampton General Hospital in encouraging and promoting the health and wellbeing agenda not just in the context of its patients but also its staff as one of Northampton’s largest employers in the area. Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust commented: “We are delighted that the future of the Cripps Recreation Centre has been secured through our partnership with Northampton Leisure Trust ensuring our employees have access to great facilities and services.”

Friday Legal Solicitors assisted the management team and the board of trustees of Northampton Leisure Trust in this acquisition and were involved extensively in negotiations with Northampton General Hospital in relation to the acquisition and the transfer of management responsibilities.

Robert Austin, the Finance Director for Northampton Leisure said: “Cripps Leisure Centre has been underused for many years and the refurbishment of the centre now provides a clean modern and welcoming environment for users and members. New members are welcome and can join to enjoy the facilities solely at Cripps Recreation Centre or indeed take out a membership across all five of the Trilogy Leisure Centre facilities.”

Duncan Crowther, the corporate lawyer who headed the team acting on the acquisition of the new centre said: “It is always a pleasure acting for Northampton Leisure Trust and on this occasion seeing the transformation of the centre has been especially satisfying. The legal issues and documentation required to complete this transaction has taken a significant amount of time to finalise, but the end result has been very worthwhile.”
