ENTHUSIASM for Franks is enabling the enterprise to grow to meet the demands of its customers. It is three years since doors opened at the first Franks Steakhouse followed by Franks Hamburger Houses in Wellingborough Road, Northampton and Billing Wharf in Station Road, just a short drive from the town centre. Now Franks has added a butcher, WH Thomas, Washbrook Lane, Ecton, to its portfolio, selling a wide range of products including Franks’ trademark hamburgers and steaks. The next challenge for Tom Hewer, who is the driving force behind Franks, is The Artizan in Northampton’s Artizan Road. Plans are well under way to breathe new life into the traditional pub with hopes that it will once again meet the tastes of customers who appreciate good food in welcoming surroundings. This formula means for the third year running the company has entries in the running in the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards. Tom is a finalist in the F&B Entrepreneur of the Year and two of his three venues, Franks Hamburger House at Billing and Franks Steakhouse in Northampton are both finalists in the Restaurant of the Year category. Tom said: “We are delighted with the nominations because we like to think we do things differently at Franks. Feedback from customers shows that they appreciate the food and service.” Each venue has a locally sourced menu that features a few surprises plus the popular hamburgers and steaks, which are cooked over charcoal in a Josper oven. Tom added: “People often think when they hear that we sell hamburgers that we are a fast food chain but that is not what we are about. We want people to take time and enjoy themselves.” The drinks include a selection of locally sourced products. All venues are ideal for parties with many already booking space for Christmas celebrations. The venues have regular opening times but can offer flexible options for groups who call to discuss their own requirements. Tom said: “We are looking forward to 2015 and meeting new customers at our unique venues which offer good food with a fresh twist in relaxing surroundings.” To find out more see the website at www.frankssteakhouse.co.uk
