Cleaning system an alternative to expensive replacement costs

A LOT of drivers will only know their car’s exhaust diesel particulate filter (DPF) is causing a problem when a dashboard warning light comes on. Damage caused by a clogged DPF can result in high repair bills, often running into four figures.

Located within the exhaust system, a DPF captures small soot particles, preventing them from being expelled into the atmosphere. As with any filter, it needs attention regularly and this is done automatically, by burning off the soot in a process called regeneration. This takes place over a period of steady-speed driving for over 20 minutes.

Certain motorists, such as urban commuters, might find that low mileage stop–start motoring may prevent the DPF fitted to their vehicle from regenerating properly.

The Government has been keen to ensure that the environment is protected from harmful emissions and it is now an automatic MOT failure to remove a DPF that has been fitted to the vehicle as original equipment from new.

Seeing an opportunity in the market, Fastline Northampton Diesel has invested in a state-of-the-art DPF cleaner, demonstrating the importance of staying ahead in technology by the company.

The machine fully flushes away all of the trapped soot, ash and other debris in an environmentally friendly process.

Eugene Finan, Managing Director of Fastline Group, said: “The new machine is the perfect solution for cleaning DPFs. We are seeing more and more vehicles with blocked filters and this machine cleans not only car, but commercial vehicle and bus DPFs as well. The cost of a new DPF can range from several hundred pounds for a car to several thousand pounds for a truck.  Our facility can provide a clean that is up to 98 per cent effective, environmentally friendly and also cost effective, starting from as little as £195 plus VAT for a car or taxi.

“Umicore, one of the world’s leading producers of catalysts and DPFs used in automotive emission systems, state that analysis confirms there are no remarkable differences between a filter cleaned using the technology we utilise and installing a new one. More than that, we can professionally clean oil coolers and radiators as well.”

Fastline Group was formed in 1995, serving the area with truck and trailer components. In 2000, the well-known and long-established firm, Northampton Diesel was acquired by the group. Today, the business operates from its premises in Riley Road, Kettering, on the town’s Telford Way Industrial Estate.

The company offers a same day by appointment, or next day DPF cleaning service, with free collections and deliveries to our local area, or nationwide by carrier.
