Feel at home on agency website

THE property market has seen a vast resurgence in confidence in recent months.

The Land Registry House Price Index shows an average house price in England and Wales is now £172,011, compared with a peak of £181,466 in November 2007.

The number of property transactions has also increased over the last year. From January 2013 to April 2013 there was an average of 48,597 sales per month. In the same period a year later, the figure was 65,679.

Without any doubt the internet is the first place that people go when searching for a new home.

Without any doubt the internet is the first place that people go when searching for a new home. In fact according to traffic statistics expert Hitwise, around one per cent of all internet traffic in the UK is property-related. One agent that recognises the importance of a good internet presence is Richard James Estate Agents who have recently relaunched its website.

“Our website is crucial,” explained Richard Fowler. “As well as coming to see property details, we know it’s one of the first places people looking to move home come to find out exactly how we will sell their property.”

The estate agency has always been forward thinking and commissioned its first website way back in 1998 with the help of web design agency, in.house.media. The site has gone through several different incarnations over the years, the most recent of which adopts the latest technology to adapt for mobile phones and tablets as well as traditional desktop computers.

“With tablets and smartphones now being the most popular way to browse the web, having a responsive website that works on mobile devices is something all businesses should have,” said Gavin Hills, from in.house.media. “If a website is not easy to use, visitors very quickly give up and leave.”

The website is automatically updated with the latest property details, that have large clear images, floor plans, and location information. Visitors can request viewings or a valuation of their current home.
