An outdoor cinema event held at Highgate House in Creaton on Friday 13th May has raised just over £1000 for the Northampton Hope Centre.
‘Cinema Under the Stars’, which was organised by Event Management students at the University of Northampton, saw over 170 people attend for the screening of the cinematic classic Grease.
Held on the front lawns with the 17th century house as a backdrop, the evening included a BBQ, raffle and prizes for the best Grease inspired fancy dress.
Chloe Russell Flint, Katie Gale, Sapphire Goody and Sarah Spencer are all in the third year of the BA (Hons) Event Management course and were responsible for the promotion, organisation and planning of the event. They chose the Northampton Hope Centre for all the work it does in supporting homeless and socially disadvantaged people.
Commenting on the event, Chloe said:
“The outdoor cinema was a great success, so much so that we have received an A as a result! We’re so glad all our hard work paid off and we were really pleased to raise so much money, as well as awareness for the Hope Centre. We’d also like to thank all the amazing staff at Highgate House for their support in helping us deliver the event.”
Due to its success, Highgate House has planned its own outdoor cinema event to take place on Saturday 23rd July, screening everyone’s favourite love story, Dirty Dancing. Tickets are on sale here (www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cinema-under-the-stars-tickets-25928767642) and are selling out fast.
