New litter bins have been installed and damaged bins replaced in the town centre, thanks to Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID).
The BID has this month funded 15 new bins across the town centre, part of its commitment to creating a clean, tidy and litter free environment for visitors and businesses.
The BID’s Hosts, who patrol the streets and help the BID achieve its overall business plan objectives, through identifying and reporting cleaning and environmental issues in the town centre to partners to rectify, which support a cleaner, town centre, identified litter hotspots for new bins and damaged bins in the town centre.
As a result eight bins have been replaced in Sheep Street, Commercial Street, Market Square, Castilian Street and Bridge Street, and seven new litter bins have been installed on Angel Street, Fish Street, Campbell Square Car Park and St Giles Street.
Jessica D’Aulerio, Chair of Northampton Town Centre BID and owner of town centre print firm Tangerine Red said: “These new litter bins will make a real difference to our streets and our overall town centre environment, which is a key objective for the BID. They come hot on the heels of our recent programme of window cleaning and vinyl installation, a programme of improvements designed to enhance the appearance of empty shop fronts in the town centre and improve the ambience of the streets whilst the premises are waiting to be occupied.”
This is the second phase of litter bin replacement and installations, part of a series of activities to make a visible difference to the town centre.
