THERE is a new print in a corner of a new office in Northamptonshire that has become the focus of a growing number of conversations for those visiting the premises.
The offices belong to award winning marketing and PR firm Ashley Riley Communications and the print is the famous 1970 posthumous portrait of President John F Kennedy painted by Aaron Shikler, the original of which currently hangs in the White House.
“When we moved into our new offices this year we wanted them to reflect some of the most inspirational and most effective communicators there are that people can relate to,” said Managing Director Ashley Riley. “This includes the photos and images we already have on display but we were delighted when a good friend returned from meetings he had recently had in Washington DC and brought us back a print of the famous JFK portrait.”
The portrait is generally analysed as a character study of the 35th President but unlike most presidential portraits, it depicts the president as pensive, with eyes downcast and arms folded.
“Most visitors to the office notice the picture but ask us why, in an environment that is about exciting, cutting edge and bespoke communications do we have what some consider to be a very thoughtful and moody image,” Ashley Riley continued.
“The portrait, for us, reflects the challenges we, and so many of the businesses we serve experience. Being in business can be inspirational and being in business can bring great enjoyment.
“It is also a very serious experience, where very serious reflective decisions are made in some challenging situations. We’re finding that this portrait reflects these experiences and gives not only us but those who come to the office real inspiration and encouragement.”
