ANNUAL revenue growth of around 40% has placed a Northampton company at the head of its field on the world stage. Now Ziggurat XYZ is celebrating after receiving a King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
The company is a specialist in talent management… not for actors, sports stars and other celebrities but in the digital world, representing Youtube creators looking to maximise the commercial value of their online creativity.
Ziggurat XYZ represents creators including James Hoffmann, barista, YouTuber, entrepreneur, coffee consultant and author. Since becoming World Barista Champion in 2007, he has become a pioneer of Britain’s third-wave coffee movement. Hoffmann has published three books, including The World Atlas of Coffee, amassed a significant following on YouTube and started several businesses.
The company, which has grown to employ 20 people in office premises in Northampton, also represents stand-up comedian and recreational mathematician Matt Parker, a YouTuber with over 100 million views. His first book, Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World, became an international bestseller, selling over 137,000 copies in the UK alone. His second book, Love Triangle: The Life-Changing Magic of Trigonometry, was a Sunday Times bestseller.

“We specialise in factual entertainment, representing scientists, chefs, blacksmiths and mathematicians,” said founder and managing director Charles Hayes. “We work behind the scenes on their commercial activity. YouTubers are paid through advertising and we help with their commercialisation.”
Ziggurat XYZ was founded in 2016 and won its first overseas client – a YouTube creator based in Austin, Texas – six years ago. Today, all but 4% of its revenue is in US dollars and the company expects to maintain its 40% average annual growth in its current financial year.
“I entered the King’s Award for Enterprise because we had been doing our work for the past eight and a half years and I wanted some recognition,” said Charles. “I knew what we were doing was specialised, I realised that we were in an unusual position and I wanted someone to verify that.
“Our biggest market is the USA. The equivalent to a King’s Award there would be if a business received a similar award from the President. They would think that is pretty special so, for us, positioning the King’s Award with US clients is a real opportunity.”
