State-of-the-art temporary buildings

ALREADY established as leading suppliers of structures to the events and exhibitions sectors, Neptunus is growing the commercial arm of its UK operation by providing semi-permanent space solutions for a wide variety of business applications.

Matt Clark was recently appointed as Project Manager of the Temporary Buildings division and is the main point of contact for any company requiring additional space which Neptunus can provide fast, efficiently and cost-effectively.

One of the best advertisements for Neptunus’ temporary buildings are the warehouses at its UK headquarters in Swan Valley, Northamptonshire, which are situated within Neptunus’ own structures. Temporary buildings can:

* Bridge the gap for a specific period, for example during new building works or renovation

* Replace or extend existing facilities

* Offer a new solution when your existing building no longer meets your requirements

* Provide emergency accommodation following a disaster such as flooding or a fire

* Be a viable alternative to an investment in real estate

Matt said: “Our temporary buildings use state-of-the-art technology and have the look and feel of a permanent building. They can be erected on virtually any site or surface as an extension to an existing permanent building, at a new location or even on your car park. Our temporary buildings are relocatable and can be dismantled and removed when no longer needed, or taken down and re-built at a new location.

“Sustainability is a key factor of our temporary building solutions. They keep energy usage and costs to a minimum and buildings don’t stand vacant, running up unnecessary costs, as they are removed when no longer required – and all our materials are reusable and recyclable, so there is no wastage. Businesses also have the option of hiring, purchasing or leasing our products, so we offer the flexibility for companies to efficiently plan and manage their costs – and the space solutions we offer are endless!”

In the UK Neptunus has provided temporary buildings for school sports halls, insulated warehouses, supermarkets, canteens and showrooms. Recent assignments have included suppling a temporary showroom for white goods manufacturer Whirlpool at their headquarters in Peterborough and temporary buildings to a school in Essex.

Neptunus has supplied temporary buildings for prestigious projects across Europe including:

* A convention centre for Netherlands EU Presidency for six months where ministers, members of the European Commission and diplomats from across the continent gathered for the numerous policy and strategy meetings.

* A state-of-the-art judo sports facility for the Netherlands’ national sports development organisation which will be in place for at least 10 years.

* An auditorium for the RWTH University located in Aachen, situated right next to a train track, so optimal soundproof walls were needed.

This year Neptunus demonstrated its capability for responding swiftly to a disaster after a fire destroyed a supermarket in The Netherlands. After carrying out complex groundworks on the site, it took just four days to erect the temporary building and 10 days to fit out the facility – which looks and feels like a permanent supermarket. The building, covering around 1,500 square metres, has all the comfort and convenience of the former supermarket but will be dismantled for use elsewhere once the new store has been rebuilt. The entire project was completed in just five weeks.

“Our structures can be adapted to meet virtually any challenge,” said Matt. “We can supply temporary structures that can be built fast and efficiently, offering really cost-effective space solutions, to meet the needs of virtually any business.”
