DAVENTRY is growing fast, offering new markets and development opportunities for investors in an affordable location to live and work. It is at the heart of the nation’s transport network with growing employment sectors, particularly: logistics, high-performance technology, research and development, as well as enabling growth.
Logistics
Daventry is home to Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT), the UK’s premier rail linked logistics development on the West Coast Mainline, connecting businesses to continental Europe. A 7.86 million square foot expansion is planned to create 9,000 new jobs through new warehousing, a lorry park, and a Logistics Centre of Excellence for training and education. Adjacent is Apex Park, Daventry and Crick Industrial Park at M1 junction 18.
High-performance technology
Daventry is part of the world-renowned Northamptonshire high-performance technology and motorsport cluster and includes Cummins, Hi Force UK and Mercedes AMG based in Brixworth; land for future expansion has been identified.
Research and development
Aero Research Partners are being supported Daventry District Council and SEMLEP to convert a two-mile long disused railway tunnel at Catesby into a unique aerodynamics research facility and associated Science Park.
Enabling Growth
The Council has built units for a number of local businesses including hydraulic tool specialist Hi Force and roofing products manufacturer Hambleside Danelaw. Current opportunities include:
* Daventry South East Gateway Employment Site
This key site for future employment will provide a mix of non-strategic sized units in response to growing demand from businesses investors.
* Daventry Town Centre
The Council’s town centre vision includes a £175 million investment programme to regenerate Daventry into a thriving destination town; sites include Daventry Oaks; a retail park with restaurants and hotel due to start construction this year, and a new cinema with cafes, bars and restaurants.
