AS economic growth and demand for housing increases in Northamptonshire, property and planning firm Berrys has expanded its planning and development team with the appointment of an additional experienced planning consultant.
Baldip Basi has joined the Kettering office of Berrys to assist planning consultants Val Coleby and Lauren May with their increasing workload.
“Demand for planning services continues to grow in the agriculture, residential and commercial sectors in the the county and we are well placed to assist clients with their planning and development needs,” said Val, who has more than 25 years’ planning experience in both the public and private sectors.
Baldip has worked in the planning sector for more than 13 years, working for a number of national property firms, and has been involved in a wide range of projects across the spectrum of planning including education, leisure, retail and industrial consultancy.
His day-to-day activities include preparing and submitting applications and pre-application enquiries, including managing large multidisciplinary teams, and providing ongoing strategic planning advice to existing clients.
During his career, Baldip has worked within the retail and hospitality sectors, preparing applications and supporting retail statements/sequential site assessments for Sainsbury’s Local and Tesco Express format convenience stores and a leading UK budget hotel operator. He has worked with global fast food operators such as McDonald Restaurants, Subway, KFC and Pizza Hut and more recently secured planning permission for a substantial extension at Mercure Parkside Hotel. He secured planning permission for the UK’s first contemporary Sikh temple and provides ongoing planning advice to a Berkshire-based college securing permission for a number of extensions.
