A HISTORIC hall in Northamptonshire that has, for many years, been used as an outdoor education centre, is being marketed by Northamptonshire County Council.
Grendon Hall closed in March and the council is now offering the freehold interest of the property, set in more than 16 and a half acres, for sale. Potential uses, subject to planning, include as a wedding or meeting venue, hotel, care home or private school. Alternatively, the property could be restored to its former residential use, having been a private home up to 1945 when the council acquired it.
Grendon Hall is a Grade II* listed stone property on three floors and includes much of its original period detailing. The ground floor provides a kitchen, dining room, two lounges and other ancillary uses. The first floor is divided into four dormitories, four bathrooms shower rooms and WCs, five bedrooms and other ancillary areas. The second floor has three additional dormitories, four bedrooms, a shower room, WC and other ancillary areas.
Separate to the main hall, Marlow Hall is a detached Grade II listed two-storey property that until recently provided the principal accommodation block for the Education Centre. On the ground floor the property provides a substantial hall together with a bedroom and ancillary accommodation. The first floor includes four dormitories, two bedrooms, two shower rooms, WCs and store rooms. Features on the site also include a Grade II listed dovecot, an open-air swimming pool, four interconnected yurts, six temporary buildings and showers and stores.
