LEADING housebuilder Barratt Homes Northampton has built 773 homes in its operational area during the past year and contributed over £114.2m to the UK’s economic output.
The achievements are highlighted in a new report which measures the housebuilder’s social and economic contribution to the South of the Midlands over the past financial year (1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016).
The five star housebuilder covers Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire.
Included within then company’s socio-economic footprint are key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment. The figures revealed the housebuilder:
* Supported 2,000 jobs directly and through its contractors and suppliers
* Directly employed 23 new graduates, trainees and apprentices
* Supported 350 subcontractor companies and 430 supplier companies
* 90 per cent of components used in the construction process were manufactured in the UK.
* Planted or retained 31,900 trees or shrubs on its developments
* Recycled 93 per cent of construction waste
* Spent £400,000 on physical works benefitting local communities
