Silverstone reinforced its position at the centre of UK innovation during a visit from Lord Vallance, as businesses across the site demonstrated how advanced engineering is already driving a wider regional growth plan.
The Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation visited as part of ongoing engagement with the Silverstone Vision 2035 Partnership, which brings together Silverstone Park, Silverstone Circuit, West Northamptonshire Council and Buckinghamshire Council to support long-term investment and sustainable development.
Rather than focusing on future ambition, the visit highlighted how innovation is being delivered in practice. Companies based at Silverstone Park opened their doors to showcase work spanning elite sport, automotive and defence, underlining the depth of engineering expertise concentrated at the site.

Among those involved were the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub and Applus+ 3C Test, where activity ranges from advanced aerodynamics in high-performance sport to specialist testing programmes supporting complex vehicle development. Together, they reflect the breadth of capability that continues to attract businesses aligned with the area’s growth plan.
The scale of that growth is increasingly visible. The Cadillac Formula 1 team has established its UK base at Silverstone Park and is expanding rapidly, further strengthening the site’s reputation as a global hub for high-performance engineering and applied innovation.
Marketing Manager for Silverstone Park, Chantal-Lawren Welch said the aim is to create something more connected than a traditional business park, adding: “It’s not just about providing space – it’s about creating an environment where businesses can connect, collaborate, and engage with the right stakeholders. Welcoming figures like Lord Vallance gives our occupiers the opportunity to showcase their work, share insights and contribute to wider conversations around innovation, investment and growth.”
As a result, Silverstone continues to build momentum as a focal point for advanced engineering and innovation in the UK. Engagement at ministerial level not only raises the profile of businesses based at the site, but also reinforces its role in shaping the next phase of the region’s growth plan.
