YOU can’t get more quintessentially English than afternoon tea in the garden – and fine summer weather means guests can enjoy that and more at The Apothocoffee Shop at Jeyes of Earls Barton.

When the weather allows, tables in the garden are the perfect way to enjoy anything from a morning coffee to a lunch with family or friends. If the weather does let you down, then the conservatory is light and airy enough to still enjoy your treats in comfort.

The Apothocoffee Shop serves lunches, snacks and award-winning cakes, as well as a range of specialist teas and coffees, including locally roasted Arabica coffee from The Great Brington Coffee Company.

Lynn, star-baker at Jeyes, is renowned for her sponge cakes, cupcakes and muffins, and uses the coffee in her delicious coffee and walnut cake – as the subtle blueberry Arabica flavours blend perfectly together.

Jeylatos, the ice cream bar within Jeyes of Earls Barton, serves a range of I’m Real Ice Cream, produced in Northampton.

Due to the success of Jeylato’s ice cream bar and the children’s Tractor Ted area the Jeyes family have again extended the seating area. While the little ones play, the grown ups can enjoy refreshments there too, including the Italian dessert, Affogato al caffe, vanilla ice cream drowning in hot expresso coffee – from Great Brington, of course. Part of Jeylato’s has been designed with children in mind, and the Tractor Ted seating area helps children learn a little bit more about dairies and farming and where their creamy treat came from as they enjoy their ice cream.

If anyone wants to linger before or after their tasty treats, Jeyes of Earls Barton has a host of attractions, including a gift shop, a pharmacy museum, a miniature mechanical funfair and a display of Rupert Bear collectables, a tiny Royal Family exhibition room, a museum devoted to life in Earls Barton through the Victorian times to the years after the end of the Second World War and a dolls house shop, The Dolly Lodge.

Jeyes of Earls Barton is in The Square, Earls Barton, NN6 0NA and is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm. Telephone 01604 810289 or visit the website www.jeyesofearlsbarton.co.uk
