WELL and truly settled in bigger premises in Wellingborough, Paul Cox Panel and Paint has expanded its services to customers over the past couple of years – including the installation of two electric car charge points earlier this year.
The move from Northampton to larger, 10,500 square foot premises on the Finedon Road Industrial Estate enabled the expansion of the company that specialises in car and light commercial vehicle repairs as well as undertaking classic car restorations or specialist paint projects.
Employing 15 people and with 22 vehicle bays, Paul Cox Panel and Paint is a BSI kitemark accredited body shop and is insurance approved and also approved by manufacturers Mazda, Hyundai and Kia, but carries out work on all makes and models, whether under insurance claims or privately.
All technicians hold NVQ certification and follow the BSI/manufacturers approved methods for repairs, while a number of technicians have retrained specifically to work on electric vehicles, a sector of the market that is looking set to continue growing over the next few years.
This prompted the installation this summer of two electric car charge points so that cars that are brought in for accident repairs or planned body work can be returned to the customer fully charged and ready to drive away.
Owner Paul Cox said: “We have a solid customer base but we have to be ready for market changes. Both Hyundai and Kia have a new range of electric vehicles and we needed to be able to repair them safely and correctly – electric cars are the future and we need to be prepared.
“In order to work safely on an electric vehicle, you need equipment that safely disconnects and powers down the battery, otherwise it can cause damage to the car and, most importantly, can be dangerous to anyone working on it.
“Given that we have our own electric vehicles in our fleet, and that we work on a growing number of customers’ electric vehicles, it made sense when we moved to ensure that we are absolutely ahead of the game in terms of training, safety and equipment to allow us to give our customers the best possible service.”
The investment and planning appears to be paying off, with a host of positive feedback. Among the comments left on the Paul Cox Panel and Paint website include: “Excellent job for a great price. Work done properly for half the price of another quote!”; “Having had our fleet of cars looked after by Paul Cox Panel and Paint, I can’t recommend them enough. We would not think twice about using them again. Great to work with!” and “Provided me with a great service. Very friendly and reliable. My car looked good as new.”
