YOUNG job hunters are being offered an opportunity with their name written all over it after the UK’s leading personalised gifts manufacturer announced it is looking for five new apprentices.
The apprentices will be based at the HQ of PersonalisedGiftsShop.co.uk in Wellingborough, and will be trained in every aspect of the personalised gift business including engraving and printing methods.
The new starters will spend time in several different areas of the company, from production to quality control, helping them to find where their strengths lie.
Rory Smith joined the company as an apprentice in 2016 and has soon climbed the ranks. He is now a Quality Control Supervisor, managing a team of 20 people.
Talking about his experience of the apprenticeship, Rory said: “Although I started as a design apprentice, I now work in production due to me and the management team discovering this is my strongest area.
“One of the main things I noticed when I was on the scheme is that management was always with me, identifying my skills and helping to improve areas that were lacking.
“I started with no practical experience and now understand the business as a whole and manage a team where I’m teaching colleagues to use technology such as hi-tech printers and lasers – something I hadn’t even seen three years ago.
“Everyone was so patient and supportive when I first joined the team, always answering my questions, which helped me learn quickly. It really is a great opportunity and I’m so glad I took it.”
PersonalisedGiftsShop.co.uk currently employs over 70 members of staff at its Wellingborough factory.
The factory has a range of over 14,000 different products, including everything from toilet brushes to chopping boards, all of which can be personalised.
PersonalisedGiftsShop.co.uk owner Jane Gokgoz said: “We’re very proud of our staff and the fact that all of the management team are homegrown talent. They all started on the factory floor and have grown with the business.
“Rory is a great example of what our apprenticeship scheme can do for an individual. He’s worked in every area of the company so is in a great position to be able to help new members of staff and apprentices.
“We’ve already had three apprentices complete the scheme and they all continue to be valued members of our team. We’re very excited at the prospect of another five apprentices joining us in what is a very exciting time for the company.”
Applications for the PersonalisedGiftsShop.co.uk apprenticeship scheme are open until 31 January 2020. Potential applicants can visit the website www.PersonalisedGiftsShop.co.uk for further info.
