The Northampton Legal Walk has raised £4,795 for organisations providing free legal advice and support across Northamptonshire, with donations continuing to come in following this year’s event.
Held on 3 June, the annual Northampton Legal Walk brought together legal professionals, charities and supporters to raise funds for services helping people facing issues including housing problems, debt, domestic abuse and welfare rights.
The event was organised by Northamptonshire Community Foundation in partnership with Northamptonshire Law Society, HCR Law and the University of Northampton.
One of the more notable outcomes from this year’s fundraising effort was the involvement of Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council, which received funding from the event in 2025. The organisation returned as a participant this year, with chief executive Anjona Roy emerging as the walk’s leading fundraiser.
The development highlights how organisations supported by the fund continue to contribute to the wider network of advice and support services across the county.
In recognition of her fundraising efforts, Anjona was awarded hospitality tickets for Northampton Town Football Club’s Tempeo Community Lounge, donated by a private sponsor.
Rachel McGrath, chief executive of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s Legal Walk and incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and donated. Raising £4,795 will make a real difference to advice services supporting people across Northamptonshire.
“Seeing Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council – one of last year’s funded organisations – return to take part and lead fundraising this year is a powerful reminder of the impact of the Legal Walk and the strength of our local community.”
Among those taking part was Shakira Khan, associate at Wilson Browne Solicitors, who said the event had become an important fixture for the county’s legal sector.
“The Northampton Legal Walk is something the legal community really looks forward to every year,” she said. “Most importantly, it raises money for legal advice and representation for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. I believe everyone should be able to access that kind of support no matter their financial situation.”
The Northampton Legal Walk has become a regular feature of Northamptonshire’s legal calendar, bringing together law firms, charities and community organisations around a shared objective of improving access to justice. Donations remain open until 17/07/26.
