NORTHAMPTON-based building services company Briggs & Forrester has announced some important changes to its senior team, which took effect from 1 February 2017.

Paul Burton has been appointed as Group Chief Executive of Briggs & Forrester. Paul was previously Managing Director of the Engineering Services business. Mike Stanton will remain Executive Chairman of the Group and continue to work closely with Paul and the Group Board.

Ian Lawrence has been appointed as Managing Director of Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services, bringing a wealth of experience to this role. Chris Church has been appointed as Director responsible for the South East region, replacing Ian. These internal promotions will ensure the continued successful performance of the Engineering Services business as the company looks to expand the Group’s activities.

Executive Chairman of the Group Mike Stanton said: “Having completed the management buyout in June 2016, it was extremely important to address the group management structure. These changes ensure that we have strong and dedicated leadership, providing the support and direction to achieve our long term strategic objectives. We don’t want to become just a bigger business, but a better business, generating improved margins and driving cash for the future benefit of everyone in the company.”

Company results reflect this direction, demonstrating further growth in operating performance of the group post management buyout. Revenue has increased by 8 per cent to £177m (£164m: 2015). Operating profit has risen to £4.4m (£3.5m: 2015), a 26 per cent increase over the previous year’s performance. Cash improved to £28.7m (£20.3m: 2015) continuing the strong trend of cash management across the business. The group’s forward order book has increased to £265m (£214m: 2015) and is well supported by a strong pipeline of opportunities to enable further growth mostly from the existing geographical areas. Further regional expansion is not discounted, but the immediate strategy is to enhance existing client relationships across the regional business units as a first priority.
