THIS month I am writing on board Ryanair’s flight from Luton to Gerona. As far as I can tell both engines are working efficiently and we have not been asked a show of hands as to whether we feel safe to fly or not! This is apparently what happened to passengers on an easyJet flight from Malaga to Bristol on Saturday 10 June. The captain is purported to have told passengers there was only a 50/50 chance of both engines working and would anyone like to get off? 12 people unbelievably voted to stay! Suffice it to say the flight did not take place.

This got me thinking about the outcome of our recent vote, the general election. We are now unsure about anything, soft or hard Brexit, austerity or investment, social services or business, connectivity, 5G mobile, the list goes on and on and if I continue you may think I am up for election myself!

Maybe not such a bad idea as I, unsurprisingly, would be investing in the UK’s infrastructure, the internet connectivity and 5G with the smaller private corporations, networks and companies. These are all struggling to get this country from a lowly 57th in the worlds league of internet supremacy to a position becoming of one of the world’s leading IT service industry nations.

I am now reminded that for the first time since 1966 England are world football champions! Hoorah! It may be only the Under 20 team but it just shows that anything is possible, maybe I COULD be elected to something. (No clever responses thank you).

So come on you elected people, what will you do? Make us proud again! The UK still have the best inventive and scientific brains, from the best Universities in the world, make sure we invest in making us the World Champions of IT and communications once more.

Just landing, sunny 28 degrees, time to go, be in touch next month!
