Franklins Solicitors has revealed the 12 charities selected for its 2027 Franklins £50 Challenge, which will see businesses across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes raising money for causes ranging from cancer care and bereavement support to domestic abuse and homelessness.

The announcement marks the next stage of preparations for the annual fundraising campaign, which returns on 23 February and runs until 29 May 2027.

Among the charities chosen are Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, The Lewis Foundation, Rainbows Hospice and Spinal Injuries Association.

The full line-up also includes Ailsa’s Aim, Camphill Milton Keynes & Northants, Harry’s Rainbow, Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, The Henry Allen Trust, UnityMK and YMCA South Midlands.

Now entering its ninth year, the Franklins £50 Challenge has raised nearly £250,000 for charity since its launch in 2018.

The initiative provides participating businesses, schools and community groups with £50 in seed funding, challenging them to turn that initial sum into as much money as possible for one of the selected charities.

The 2027 charities were chosen following a competitive application process, with Franklins reporting a particularly high standard of submissions.

Rosanna Stimson, associate partner and head of marketing at Franklins Solicitors LLP, said: “We’re delighted to announce our 12 charity partners for 2027. The standard of applications was incredibly high, which made the selection process particularly difficult.

“The £50 Challenge has grown into something we’re immensely proud of. It’s about much more than fundraising. It’s about bringing people together, creating connections between local businesses and charities and showing what can be achieved when a community gets behind a shared goal.

“Every year we’re amazed by the enthusiasm, creativity and generosity of the teams taking part. We’re looking forward to working with our charity partners to make the 2027 Challenge another fantastic success.”

The announcement follows another successful year for the campaign, with 56 teams raising more than £50,000 for 12 charities during the 2026 challenge.

Over the years, businesses have used their initial £50 to organise everything from bake sales and raffles to sponsored activities and larger fundraising events.

By bringing several charities together under one campaign, the challenge enables businesses to support different causes while taking part in a shared fundraising initiative.

With the charity partners now confirmed, Franklins is encouraging businesses of all sizes, schools and community groups across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes to register their interest in the 2027 campaign.
