Northampton College is calling on employers across Northamptonshire to help shape the region’s future workforce at a dedicated careers event next month.
The college will host its ‘Discover Your Future’ event at the Daventry Campus on Tuesday 10 March. The initiative aims to strengthen links between business and education while encouraging young people to explore local career opportunities.
Employers will be able to meet students from local schools in a dedicated Careers Zone between 1pm and 3pm. During the session, businesses can showcase job roles, career pathways and apprenticeships, while also promoting the skills required in their sectors.
The event comes at a time when many employers continue to report recruitment challenges and skills shortages. Therefore, Northampton College is positioning the event as a practical way for businesses to engage early with potential future employees.
Jason Lancaster, principal of Northampton College, said: “By taking part across the day, businesses will play a key role in helping us prepare students for their next steps while strengthening links between education and industry.
“We would be delighted to have a wide range of local employers involved and look forward to working in partnership to support future talent in the Daventry area.”
In addition to the afternoon careers session, employers can remain on site for the college’s main open event later in the day. This provides further opportunities to meet prospective students and their families and to raise awareness of apprenticeship and employment routes within their organisations.
The college hopes the initiative will encourage more young people to continue their education locally and pursue careers within Northamptonshire. As a result, organisers see the event as part of a broader effort to retain skills within the county and support long-term economic growth.
Northampton College supports around 10,000 students each year and works closely with employers to deliver industry-focused training and apprenticeships aligned to workforce needs.
Businesses wishing to take part are asked to register by Wednesday 25 February via the Northampton College website.
