A former Northampton College student is through to the regional finals of the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2025.

Nineteen-year-old Lily Ager, who is training to become a Military Nurse with the British Army, impressed judges in the T Level Student of the Year category after excelling during her Health – Adult Nursing course at Northampton College.

Her studies included a placement at Brackley Community Hospital, where she supported care for more than 200 patients and worked alongside healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, dietitians and speech and language therapists. She completed 30 additional hours beyond the required 550 placement hours to broaden her experience.

Lily, who achieved a Merit in her qualification, has since secured a place at Birmingham City University to study Nursing with the Army. She said: “My experience proves T Levels are more than just a qualification — they’re a launchpad for future success.”

She will discover if she has won at the East Midlands Regional Ceremony in Leicester on Thursday 9 October.

Jason Lancaster, principal at Northampton College, said:
“Lily was part of our first T Level cohort and her commitment to her studies was inspirational. We couldn’t be prouder of her and are excited to see what the future holds.”

T Levels are two-year courses, equivalent to three A Levels, designed to give students a mix of academic study and hands-on industry experience.

Northampton College will host advice sessions following GCSE results day on Thursday 21 August for students considering their next steps. Details are available at Northampton College Events.
