Wellingborough School is celebrating another year of exceptional A level results, with a 99% pass rate and more than a third of grades awarded at A*–A.
The results, announced today, see students progressing to leading universities, competitive apprenticeships, and careers across the UK — a boost to the region’s future skills base.
Headmaster Andrew Holman, overseeing one of his final official engagements before stepping down, praised the achievements of this year’s cohort. “It has been an absolute pleasure to spend today with these excellent young people, who have worked so hard and deserve every bit of the success that has come to them,” he said. “As well as their academic accomplishments, they have contributed so much to our community in their time at Wellingborough, and have led the School in the past year with empathy and drive.”
Mr Holman also acknowledged the work of the school’s teaching team, crediting their dedication for ensuring students leave equipped with the knowledge, resilience, and leadership skills valued by employers and universities alike.
Wellingborough School’s strong results come as businesses across Northamptonshire face increasing competition for skilled workers. The school’s success in preparing young people for higher education and the workplace reflects its role as an important contributor to the local skills pipeline.
