Fletchers Group has launched a new office in Northampton following the acquisition of Shoosmiths’ leading serious injury and clinical negligence teams.

More than 80 colleagues — including eight partners — have joined Fletchers as part of the deal, with Northampton now established as a major new hub for the national law firm.

The Northampton office at Vulcan Works, Guildhall Road, will initially host 16 team members. It will be led by Sharine Burgess, formerly a partner at Shoosmiths Serious Injury and now head of Fletchers Northampton.

“We’re proud of the reputation we’ve built here in Northampton, and excited about the future as part of Fletchers,” said Sharine. “This is a team with deep experience in complex and high-value serious injury cases — and joining Fletchers gives us the scale and focus to grow even further.”

Manchester-headquartered Fletchers is one of the UK’s largest clinical negligence and personal injury groups. Alongside Northampton, the acquisition also adds new offices in Birmingham and the Thames Valley, complementing its existing sites in the North West, Yorkshire, Newcastle, and Cambridge.

Charlene Mann, managing director of new acquisitions at Fletchers, said: “Northampton is an important addition to our network. The Shoosmiths team based here is one of the most respected in the country, and we’re delighted to welcome them into the Group.”

The deal marks Fletchers’ ninth acquisition in three years, underlining its ambition to become the UK’s leading serious injury law firm.
