A picture of success

A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE photographer is in the running for a prestigious national award in a competition that highlights the best of the UK’s manufacturing.

James Kenny, from Thrapston, has been shortlisted in the ninth annual EEF Manufacturing Photography Competition for his images of a McLaren 12C engine bay.

His photograph will now go on display at an awards ceremony in Westminster and he is in the running to take a share of the £5,000 worth of prizes up for grabs for winners. In addition, the best images from the competition will be displayed at some of Britain’s biggest and busiest railway stations.

The shortlisted image was taken for Brackmill’s based supercar finance company, Harrington Finance.

James is nominated in the professional photographers category. Prizes are also awarded to amateur and young photographers in a competition that aims to inspire a new image and improved public perception of UK manufacturing and engineering using photography.

James said: “I’m delighted to be shortlisted and honoured that my work will be going on display across the country.

“McLaren produce some of the world’s most sought after vehicles, and are one of the leading British automotive manufacturers. It’s hard to find an angle of a McLaren that doesn’t look good to be honest! For the competition, I wanted to submit an image that focussed on the heart of the vehicle, rather than the obvious exterior shot. I’m very pleased the judges have shortlisted it!
