IT was on Christmas Eve 2010 that the thriving pub and restaurant in Little Houghton, near Northampton, first opened its doors under new ownership.
Since then the team have ensured the venue meets ongoing demand for customers looking for a place to relax, talk business with friends and colleagues and enjoy food that tastes as good as it looks.
Groups who want to make a reservation can feel confident they will be able to celebrate the festive season in style. The well-stocked bar includes an extensive selection of gins and a cocktails menu.
The latest Christmas Day menu, created by Chef Shane Wade, shows why booking is advisable for a table in the restaurant which offers everything from the traditional pub food to daily specials.
The Christmas Day menu starters include seared scallops, devilled wild mushrooms or confit of duck and roast chicken terrine with toasted bread and braised plums. Roasted turkey or ham with all the Christmas trimmings is one main course but other options include roasted vegetable Wellington or eight ounce venison haunch steak with hand-cut chips, crispy onions and slow-cooked tomatoes, roasted chestnut and apricot stuffed pork tenderloin or pan-fried chicken supreme.
Traditionalists may opt for Christmas pudding, but other desserts include spiced ginger bread and butter pudding, raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake or an assiette of vanilla crème brulee, citrus tart and Ferrero Rocher ice cream. The Four Pears cheeseboard is another favourite.
Emma Westmoreland, one of the team at The Four Pears, said: “The festive season is always a busy time, but we like to give all of our guests a warm welcome. We are delighted that people have already made a booking and hope more will want to make the most of the festive season with a visit to The Four Pears.”
The Four Pears, previously known as The Red Lion, can trace its history back more than 400 years. The change of name celebrates the four couples who bought the pub in 2010 when it faced an uncertain future.
