A YOUNG businesswoman from Wellingborough has spoken of her pride in being named a winner at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards last year and how success has given her the confidence to go on to bigger and better things.

The awards were created to celebrate the successes of enterprising SMEs in the county and help them to raise their profile and last year Fae Perkins of Bond Hair in Wellingborough won the prestigious Young Business Person of the Year award and was also shortlisted in the Business Innovation and Entrepreneur of the Year categories.

The judges commented on the ‘limitless energy’ and ‘impressive personal drive’ of Fae, who celebrating eight years of running Bond Hair with the launch of a brand new website – www.bondhair.com

The website showcases Bond Hair’s keratin bonded hair extensions, which utilise flat protein tips instead of glue to wrap around the hair, through an eye-catching photo gallery and videos. Visitors can also access a price list and book appointments online, a service that is vital for Fae as she also holds down a full-time marketing role with self-build company Potton in Bedfordshire.

Fae said: “Winning the SME Northamptonshire Business Award was such a proud moment for me. Whilst I’m not your typical entrepreneur, I do have entrepreneurial spirit, optimism, ambition and a passion for business. Setting up my own business at such a young age has taught me a lot and has been hard work. When I was offered the job at Potton, I wasn’t sure how I’d continue with a Northants-based business on top of a full-time position which is my main focus.

“Before I knew it, I had two passions and every time I feel exhausted I remember how lucky I am, to have not one but two jobs I love!”

Damian Cummins, of Events & PR, the company that organises the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards, said: “Seeing winners like Fae enjoying further success is fantastic and we are delighted her entrepreneurial spirit has seen her go from strength to strength.

“Following the launch of this year’s awards, we’re keen to receive entries from similarly talented and determined young people for the Young Business Person of the Year Awards, and, indeed, all of the awards, which aim to celebrate all that is good about local small businesses.”
