A NEW networking group exclusively for property and construction professionals is ready to welcome guests next week.
PropConnect aims to provide a relaxed and informal environment in which professionals can talk business, discuss opportunities, share best practice and seek advice from their peers.
It is all about relationship building, says PropConnect’s co-founder and host Parm Bhangal, managing director of Northampton-based quantity surveyor, estimator and consultancy Bhangals Construction Consultants.
PropConnect’s launch event takes place on Thursday next week (October 3) at Bhangals Construction Consultants’ head office on Grange Park, Northampton. Parm developed the idea of the group with construction contractor Matthew Abraham, managing director of main contractor Form Five Group, as they travelled regularly to London to property sector networking events because of a lack of such events in Northamptonshire.

“Northamptonshire is a construction-heavy county but we do not have a huge amount of groups available to us in the region,” said Parm. “I was going to London to network and seeing a lot of familiar faces from Northants at the same event.
“The appetite is there, clearly, and we want to set up a local network to replicate what goes on in London without the need to travel for a couple of hours.”
Matthew added: “We would love to see businesses in the property and construction sector thrive in our region and deliver key projects within the county. Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties could really benefit from engaging with businesses nearer to home.”
PropConnect opens its doors to its guests – around 100 are expected, said Parm – between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on October 3. On the agenda is informal networking, interspersed with a short introduction to the group from hosts Parm and Matt.
“We want it to be about nurturing relationships, having meaningful conversations with people in the right environment,” said Parm.
Ultimately, PropConnect hopes to welcome guests from every construction and property sector. Meetings are free to attend and are planned to take place quarterly at venues around Northamptonshire.
