AGE UK Northamptonshire are delighted to announce that Johnson Underwood will be sponsoring the creation and publication of a Northampton Memory Book which will represent stories gathered from Age UK Northamptonshire’s Venton Centre clients. The Memory Book will be sold to raise funds to help Age UK Northamptonshire continue to support 15,000 older people across Northamptonshire every year.
Johnson Underwood have chosen Age UK Northamptonshire as their charity of the year 2019/2020 and have developed a programme of initiatives to support its work. The firm, established nearly 30 years ago in Northampton, are well known for specialist recruitment services, providing a huge diversity of roles for candidates and clients across Northamptonshire and its bordering counties.
Johnson Underwood are neighbours of Age UK Northamptonshire’s wellbeing centre, the Venton Centre, and were keen to support a local, Northamptonshire charity. Staff came up with lots of ideas they wanted to enact including creating and sponsoring a poster and flyer to publicise Age UK Northamptonshire’s free services, regular volunteering, donating Christmas gifts for socially isolated clients and participating in a sponsored run.
The Memory Book was a particular favourite of the firm, who were keen to represent the stories of older people in Northampton and demonstrate that older people have contributed so much to the county. The book will be a glimpse into Northampton’s past and a record for future generations.
Carol Johnson, Johnson Underwood Managing Director said: “We are really proud to be supporting Age UK Northamptonshire as our Charity of the Year and are especially looking forward to working on and publishing the Memory Book but also helping to raise vital funds and awareness of the amazing work this organisation do to help older members of the community in and around Northamptonshire.”
Chris Duff, Age UK Northamptonshire Chief Executive said: “We are thrilled that Johnson Underwood have chosen us as their charity of the year. They have come up with exciting joint projects for us to work on together and that our clients can be directly involved with. The misconception about Age UK Northamptonshire is that we are funded nationally or by government subsidies and therefore we don’t need support. In fact, we are a local charity, run and funded in Northamptonshire and have been for over 60 years. Working together with local businesses helps us to keep doing what we do. We can’t wait for the Memory Book to be released. It will give a platform to celebrate our amazing clients and their stories.”
