THE Knights of Old Group has embarked on a further phase of expansion with the addition of 12 MAN tractor units, worth nearly £1m.

The 12 TGX26.500XXL tractor units represent a substantial investment for the company. Commenting on the new fleet arrivals, Paul Abbott, Knights of Old Group Director, said: “This significant investment is vital to The Knights of Old Group where the continuous renewal of the fleet has implications for road safety, worker safety and efficiency.

“MAN’s ability to tailor the contract to the company’s specific needs, to include full repair, maintenance and tyre cover means that we were more than happy to continue our relationship with them.”

The new fleet consists of 12 6×2 Euro 6c Tractors which will be distributed between Knights of Old Group companies and branded accordingly: four to Derbyshire-based Nelson Distribution, and eight to Knights of Old Ireland Express.

On behalf of MAN Truck & Bus UK, Scott Munton, Sales Executive, said: “Our new MAN TGX trucks provide improved fuel efficiency, the torque is increased by 200 Nm and output by 20 HP, providing increased driving comfort. It has exactly the right drive concept for heavy-duty transport, perfect for the Knights of Old Group.
