A free panel discussion designed to inspire entrepreneurs and business leaders will take place in Northampton next month as part of the Fuelling Innovation campaign.
My Innovation Journey is set for Wednesday 4 September, 10am–12pm, at Vulcan Works in the town centre. The event will bring together four high-profile local innovators to share their experiences of building businesses, overcoming challenges, and finding success through creativity and fresh thinking.
Speaking on the day will be:
-
Alastair McLeod, Business Doctors – business growth expert supporting SMEs across the region.
-
Nick Wilson, Disabled Adventurer – motivational speaker and campaigner for inclusion and mental health awareness.
-
Dolores Sanders, Total Control Pro – co-founder of a manufacturing productivity technology company.
-
Pritul Khagram, Mavis Technologies – founder of a tech business specialising in AI-driven solutions.
The conversation will cover what innovation means to them, how they got started, and the pivotal moments that shaped their careers. The discussion will also explore the personal and professional hurdles they have faced — and the breakthroughs that made a difference.
Organised by Vulcan Works business growth manager Darren Smith and NNBN founder Simon Cox, the event will be recorded for those unable to attend in person.
The Fuelling Innovation campaign, launched by the University of Northampton, aims to spark new ideas, foster collaboration and help businesses thrive. It offers a year-round programme of workshops, conferences, networking events and knowledge-sharing opportunities for organisations across Northamptonshire.
“Innovation is critically important to help businesses stand out in crowded markets, streamline operations and meet customer demands,” said Darren. “It’s about staying relevant, resilient, and successful in a rapidly changing world, which is vital in the current marketplace.”
Simon added: “Innovation is how businesses grow and become more sustainable. Hearing real-life stories from those who have been there shows how local people are pushing boundaries and making things happen.”
Attendance is free but spaces are limited. For more information and to register, visit northampton.ac.uk/business/fuelling-innovation.
