A GROUP of talented musicians from the Northamptonshire business community got together to play their first public gig at Corker’s Champagne Bar in January.
The seven piece band, who go by the name Hannah & The Champagne Charlies decided to dedicate their debut performance to raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
Jon Thorpe, joint managing director of ACS who was instrumental in getting the group together and acts as band manager, said: “Over the years I have hatched many plans to form a one-off band with musical friends and colleagues but we’ve never quite got there.
“Then, after a conversation with Alan Spooner in November of last year, I found myself in a rehearsal room at Northampton’s Big Noise with seven local musicians. After only four rehearsals they performed publicly for the first time at Corkers, raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice. The night was filled with fun, generosity, and talent and I am pleased to say that there will be more to come from this eclectic group of musicians.”
The band members were Hannah Brady and Adrian Richings from ACS on vocals, Gary Witts, Managing Director of Datastore 365 on Vocals & Guitar, Business Times co-founder Alan Spooner on Vocals, Peter Castle, Managing Director of Hadland Chartered Surveyors on drums, Brian Harding from the Accrington Stanley Band on lead guitar and James Chapman from ACS on bass guitar.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone attending the night at Corkers, a total of £563 was raised for the Hospice.
