TRANSPORT operators from across the East Midlands and East Anglia joined local Scania dealer TruckEast, for their 2018 Golf Day.
A combination of action packed golfing and exciting fundraising meant this year’s event at the Hallmark Hotel, Cambridge, was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all that attended.
TruckEast took the opportunity of the Golf Day to raise money for SENSE, a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They support both families and individuals struggling with sensory difficulties.
As part of the fundraising activities, TruckEast organised a Lose your Senses chipping challenge throughout lunchtime, giving players a small glimpse into the world of deafblind individuals. Golfers were blindfolded and given a set of ear defenders to wear before being asked to attempt a chip in the bucket.
Harley Coulson, TruckEast Sales Director, said: “Not only was it truly a challenge for our golfers, but it enabled us to raise awareness on a different level for the worthy cause that SENSE supports. So we wanted to say a big thank you to all that took part.”
Following on from the day’s relaxed atmosphere, the evening event entailed a drinks reception accompanied by a three-course meal, presentation of the golfing awards and charity raffle.
Over the course of the event, TruckEast and its customers were able to raise in excess of £2,000 for SENSE. These funds will enable SENSE to make a genuine difference, allowing individuals to live as independently as possible and enjoy the little things that can often be taken for granted.
