PC Howard Ltd Managing Director, Andrew Howard, was invited to 10 Downing Street to meet with Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling.
Chris Grayling MP and Jesse Norman MP, Minister of State at the Department for Transport, hosted leaders from the haulage and logistics sector at Downing Street to discuss Brexit and the preparations that are being made for a No Deal.
Chris Grayling emphasised that the Government’s intention is to work towards the continuing free movement of goods across borders after 29 March. He detailed the preparations that are being made across government to this end.
Those present had the opportunity to ask a wide range of questions about the practical implications of the measures that were discussed.
Andrew Howard said: “This was an excellent opportunity to both hear about the preparations that are being made but also to raise issues that affect our industry and the future for the free movement of goods.
“I asked the Secretary of State about the driver shortage and the impact that is having on our industry and the importance of getting our drivers classed as skilled workers – it is unbelievable that we are having to ask that they are recognised as skilled in the first place.”
