CATERING Design Group (CDG), the award-winning restaurant and commercial kitchen design company, has announced four new contract wins worth over £1m, following a succession of referrals and repeat business.
Having worked on a number of previous projects on behalf of Searcys, including the Barbican and prestigious Blenheim Palace, CDG has once again been commissioned by the hospitality company, this time across the 39th and 40th floors of The Gherkin. CDG will complete a refurbishment of the lobby and reception areas, together with the bar, in line with new service options and storage requirements. CDG have taken inspiration from the Gherkin’s unique design, by creating a bespoke 3-D fretwork design for the bar, which reflects the geometric windows of the building and creates maximum impact as you enter the space.
The CDG team will also return, for its third project since 2008, to the Babraham Institute – the world leading life sciences institute, based in Cambridge. Located in a new building, the scheme will include an informal dining and meeting space, plus a communal bar area for use by the campus community. The new facility will remain in-keeping with previous designs and also include the supply and installation of a contemporary kitchen.
Students and staff at Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School in Kingston-upon-Thames, will reap the benefits of a complete refurbishment to their dining space in the main building, supported by the design and build of a modern kitchen and servery area.
Whitgift Independent Day School for boys aged 10-18, in Croydon, has appointed CDG to design and build a new extension, which will create a new and inviting dining space for staff and boarders. The addition of a contemporary servery and dishwashing area will also help ease the pressure of the existing servery facility. A new hospitality area that can be used for private functions and meetings is also being created.
