IN April 2018, the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme went live, nationwide, supported by a £67m funding pot. It has been designed to enable SMEs to receive gigabit-capable connectivity and to give the UK access to faster, more reliable internet connectivity.
As a registered supplier, dbfb are now providing all eligible businesses with free installation on full fibre, up to the value of £3,000. Businesses have access to a range of connectivity speed options with dbfb; with synchronous speeds starting from 100 Mbps all the way up to 1 Gbps.
So, how does the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme work and for how long is it available?
The government only last month proposed a major package of regulatory changes, including public funding and new legislation to bring full fibre connectivity to the entire of the UK by 2033. Although it is worth bearing in mind that the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme will end in 2021 – or maybe even sooner.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will stop issuing vouchers when the £67m funding pot has been emptied. Therefore, dbfb are encouraging all local businesses to take advantage now; propelling your business to the forefront of the digital revolution.
The Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme Journey:
* Check your eligibility by visiting gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/for-businesses/b2/
* Get in touch with dbfb to discuss the best gigabit solution for your business
* dbfb will then contact DCMS to request vouchers on your behalf
* Your local council will review and approve your voucher
* dbfb will then deliver your connection and manage completion
* Your local council will carry out final checks
* You then just need to pay the monthly charges for your new, ultrafast, gigabit-capable connection
When speaking of the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, Matt Hancock, UK Minister for DCMS at the time, said: “A world-class digital communications network is essential to ensure the UK’s future competitiveness in the global market and its ability to attract investment. Faster and more reliable connections are transforming the way we live and work; better broadband supports businesses to grow and become more productive.”
Managing Director of dbfb Simon Pickering added: “Broadband is now an essential foundation. Like when building a house, we all need a strong foundation to build our businesses upwards. Technology is moving at a scary pace. It’s great to see the Government now have the same vision as us; to give SMEs the opportunity to access full fibre, right now.”
