A NORTHAMPTON business that is committed to developing eco-friendly baby products that are better for parent, better for baby, and better for the environment will compete against companies from across the UK for a national Amazon Growing Business Award after being shortlisted in the Bridges Positive Impact category.
Bambino Mio from Northampton has been shortlisted in recognition of its achievements at the 20th annual Amazon Growing Business Awards, which takes place at The Brewery in London on 28 November.
Bambino Mio was created by husband and wife, Guy and Jo Schanschieff in 1997 and over the last 21 years the business has gone from strength to strength to become one of the most accessible reusable nappy brands in the world. The brand is now established in over 50 countries including France, Germany, France, Australia, USA, Italy and Spain.
Bambino Mio sells a wide range of award-winning, reusable products including reusable nappies, potty-training pants, swim nappies, biodegradable wipes and accessories.
Speaking after learning of the nomination, Guy Schanschieff from Bambino Mio said: “To come from humble beginnings and be nominated alongside other business that we admire is fantastic. Smaller businesses have to work very hard to stand out and be noticed, so being announced as finalists shows us that our hard work is paying off and it’s great to be recognised for our efforts.
“Being nominated for award such as this makes us hungry to continue drive this market and not just our own products. We were one of the first brands to introduce reusable nappies into mainstream retail outlets and countries where they were not previously popular because the more people are educated about reusable nappies, the closer we become to making cloth mainstream and moving away from single-use plastics. The brand is extremely proud of its positive contributions to date and continue to strive to make a difference – one reusable nappy at a time.”
The depth and breadth of this year’s shortlist proves why the UK is a great place to set up and run a business,” added Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “With a record number of applicants, there was a high level of competition in every category. I’d like to congratulate Bambino Mio and wish them all the best of luck on the awards night.”
