THERE’S nothing quite like being able to eat outdoors in the warm weather – especially when someone else is doing the cooking.
Dining al fresco at Kettering Park Hotel offers the best of both worlds – good food cooked by the expert kitchen team, from a simple snack to a three-course a la carte meal, all served in comfortable, attractive surroundings with views over the beautifully laid out gardens.
Andrew Hollett, the hotel’s General Manager, said: “When we get into the summer months and the weather is kind to us, there’s nothing better than a leisurely meal in the fresh air with a glass of chilled wine and a beautiful view.
“The area is heated for later in the evening, or if there’s a bit of a chill in the air, while a lot of people who’d rather eat inside still enjoy studying the menu out there with a drink and nibbles before moving inside to eat.”
Inside or out, the new dinner menu at the Kettering Park Hotel offers something to suit all tastes.
Among the season’s starters are crisp battered Tiger prawns with fresh lime and three dips, salad of pan-seared breast of quail with toasted walnuts and a honey and grain mustard dressing and Kidderton Ash goat’s cheese, roast vegetable and red onion tartlet with rocket salad and rapeseed oil dressing.
Diners can choose from a host of mains, including salad of char-grilled fresh salmon with new potatoes, green beans, hard boiled egg, olives and cherry tomatoes with a dill and rapeseed oil dressing; shepherd’s pie made with slow roasted Oxfordshire spring lamb shoulder and rosemary topped with creamy mashed potato, and pearl barley risotto with wild mushrooms, black truffle, parsley and parmesan shavings.
There’s also the char grill, with its steaks and burgers, and the Chef’s Table – available as a starter or main, where guests help themselves from a selection of fresh seafood, artisan cured meats and seasonal salads.
For dessert, Baked Alaska with a cherry ice cream centre takes pride of place, while there’s also Cambridge burnt cream with a crisp shortbread biscuit, lemon posset with a raspberry and cream mini pavlova, stick toffee pudding with ice cream and hot butterscotch sauce and a selection of ice creams, as well as a varied cheese board.
For those dining during the day, the lunch menu includes a selection of hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, pasta and both a Farmhouse and Fisherman’s platter, as well as Eggs Benedict and Thwaites beer battered fish and chips.
