THERE’S no doubt about it, a business meeting in the pub promises the best of both worlds, but it doesn’t always guarantee the best environment for clear thinking and strategic planning.
At The Royal Oak in Cogenhoe, however, meeting planners really can find the ideal solution, as the traditional village pub is now available for private meetings every Monday, when it is closed to customers.
Having undergone a complete refurbishment in recent years, The Royal Oak has built a reputation for its warm welcome, its excellent food and its well stocked bar. The contemporary interior includes a bar area for a drink or casual dining, while there’s a separate restaurant area for those who want things just a little more formal.
Traditionally a quite day in the pub trade after the weekend and Sunday lunch service, Monday sees the team at The Royal Oak take a break but landlady Kath Garner decided to make the space available to local businesses or groups looking for somewhere to hold meetings.
Kath said: “Because the pub is closed, you get exclusivity and privacy that most people are looking for in a meeting venue. We have a projector and a screen for presentations, so it’s perfect for anyone looking for a nice, private venue with the facilities they need.
“We can also provide refreshments from just hot and cold drinks through to a buffet meal or a three-course sit-down dinner if that’s what they want.”
