OLYMPIC gold medallist and TV presenter, Kriss Akabusi MBE, will be helping Kettering’s Rotary Clubs raise funds for local charities and organisations at the 2017 Charity Dinner which will be held on Thursday 23 March at Wicksteed Pavillion.
The Charity Dinner been taking place since 1974 and has provided fantastic entertainment for thousands of people, while raising over £300,000. Past speakers have included Sir Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, Dennis Taylor, Bill Beaumont, John Conteh, Gordon Banks, Phil Bennett and Martin Johnson.
The 2017 Dinner sees Kriss joined by comedian Ian Irving to entertain what is expected to be a packed event.
Kriss has one of the most distinctive laughs on television. He has been a presenter on The Big Breakfast, Record Breakers and a number of other TV programmes.
The event is organised by Kettering and Kettering Huxloe Rotary Clubs. Tony Robbs, President of Kettering Rotary Club said: “The Charity Dinner has a long history and we have enjoyed many excellent speakers. We are sure that Kriss and Ian will make it a night to remember for all our guests, many of whom support the event every year.”
Peter Hooton, President of Kettering Huxloe Rotary Club added: “The evening is a fantastic way to raise substantial funds for local charities while having a great time listening to some inspirational speakers. It is also used by businesses to entertain their customers and give their team a good night out. We can guarantee anyone who attends a special evening.”
A new website for the Charity Dinner explains more about the history of the event and the speakers who have attended over the years, as well as listing many of the charities and organisations that have been supported since 1974.
